Selekce potravy bobrem evropským (Castor fiber) ve čtyřech ročních obdobích
Macháčková, Kateřina
This thesis deals with the evaluation of Eurasian beaver foraging in cultural landscapes. The theoretical part is devoted to the existing knowledge concerning the selection of food by beavers and the factors influencing it. In the practical part, a total of nine stomachs of hunted or dead beaver individuals from different seasons are evaluated by means of the volumetric method. The results indicate that the ratios of the major constituents change during the seasons. As expected, the woody component is represented in the winter months, while its composition varies during the growing season. In summer, among other things, the representation of field crops is interesting. In spring and autumn there are transitions between woody and green biomass.
The European beaver (Castor fiber) in CHKO Blanský les
PRAŽÁKOVÁ, Ema
The main aim of this thesis was to research the ecology of the European beaver (Castor fiber), history and distribution of the species in the world, Europe and the Czech Republic. The basic methods of determining the dispersal and abundance of the species in the inhabited area were also described. Also contained was the mapping of the settlement in the selected area in the central part of the Czech Forest Protected Landscape Area, which took place in January and February 2023. The gained information was compared with the results of previous monitoring. The data collected during errands along the shorelines of existing and newly discovered territories showed that the expansion of beaver populations in most of the area is slowly stagnating. Colonisation is currently at a stage where the population is almost constant and unchanging. The typical character of colonisation, as pointed out by many authors, has therefore been confirmed.
Selekce potravy bobrem evropským (Castor fiber) v hospodářských porostech jižní Moravy
Černíková, Karla
The bachelor's thesis deals with the selection of food of European beaver (Castor fiber) in the Tvrdonicko area, specifically in the surrounding stands of six blind branches of the Morava River. Czech and foreign literary sources served as the basis for the literary part of the work. For the practical part of the work, data from the field survey, which took place in the winter period of 2017 and 2018, were used. The most preferred tree species in this area were poplar (Populus sp.), babyka maple (Acer campestre), willow (Salix sp.), ash (Fraxinus sp.) and blackthorn (Prunus spinosa). The beaver preferred the most young stands with individuals of smaller diameters. The damage to the vegetation was very low compared to other localities. The results of this work mostly confirm the information presented so far on the selection of woody plants by a beaver. It also focuses on evaluating the factors that influence food choices.
The story of the European beaver on the territory of the Czech Republic
Kletečková, Aneta ; Kostkan, Vlastimil (advisor) ; Bartoš, Michael (referee)
This thesis deals with the controversial species of the animal, the European beaver, which is perceived very differently in the human society. In the history, this especially protected animal was extincted on the territory of the Czech Republic and actually his activites frequently come into conflicts of human interests so the comeback of beavers is not always welcome. The thesis describes the process of changing situation of the population of beavers in the Czech Republic and important aspect of their existence. The practical part of the thesis is pursued on the research, which is focused on the perception of the problematic issues of the european beaver by the experts in the Czech Republic. This research is based on seven expert interviews and also on the survey. The goal of my research was to gain comprehensive informations about the perception of experts and about their recommendations how to moderate the situation and harmonize the human - beaver relationship. The main contribution of this thesis is the cooperation all key goups of experts and primary the most important is that results from the research can be used as a material for the future expert debates. Zhodnocení použitelnosti pachových repelentů na bázi moči velkých šelem pro ochranu porostů před bobrem evropským
Zugar, Ondřej
This bachelor's thesis deals with the idea of using tiger urine-based odor repellent as a possible type of protection against Eurasian beaver (Castor fiber). The efficacy of this repellent and the beaver's reaction to it have been examined in two ways. Two sites with active occurrence of beaver were selected in the Tvrdonice forest. At these places, piles of branches were placed on which a repellent was applied. The other way was to apply the smell to incomplete bites. The results of my investigation show, that the re-pellent used does not act as a disincentive and does not appear to be effective for the possible protection of the woodlands against the Eurasian beaver.
Vztah vybraných dendrometrických parametrů dřevin k jejich poškozování bobrem evropským na polesí Tvrdonice
Ejemová, Tereza
The bachelor thesis deals with food ecology of European beaver (Castor fiber) in the the wooded area of Tvrdonice. It examines quantity and quality of usable biomass in the non-growing season, when beavers feed on bark and phloem of woody plants. The main wood species that were studied are: poplar (Populus sp.), willow (Salix sp.), oak (Quercus sp.) and elder (Sambucus sp.). The basis of the methodology is collection enough of woody species and laboratory measurement of volume, weight and content of crude protein in usable biomass. The result is a comparison of biomass in individual trees and determination of their nutritional quality.
Škody bobrem evropským na zemědělských plodinách a na dřevinách na Moravě
Kolomiichenko, Kseniia
The thesis deals with the influence of an innate activity of the European beaver (Castor fiber) on agricultural crops and forest cover near the watercourse of Moravia and it maps its historical and current presence. The base for the theoretical part were Czech and foreign literary sources. In the practical part there were used the data from personal field research and other institutions. Field mapping of tree damages caused by the beaver took place on the territory of the national park Podyji, according to the classical methods of beaver monitoring; the data about the damage in agriculture were collected from AOPK ČR. The obtained data follow that there is a close connection between a natural way of life of the European beaver and observed damages on agricultural and forest cover. It also shows that the number of preventive measures, which are recommended, will not be enough to prevent damages, and thus it is necessary to combine them consistently.

The European beaver (Castor fiber) in the Czech landscape - educational project
PEKAŘOVÁ, Silvie
This bachelor thesis is focused on the formation of an educational program with the topic "The European beaver and his influence on the environment". The work summarizes current knowledge of history, general biology and ecology of this species, as well as information on the impact of beaver on the environment. Further, the educational program with this theme is proposed, in the modifications for the primary, secondary, high schools and university students. Participants of the program will learn about the beaver and its environment. They will learn about his history and about his return to our country. The most important of the educational program is the importance of the European beaver in our landscape and how it affects the surroundings. The tutorial also deals with the relationship between the European beaver and humans. The program was tested in the near the Soumarský most with students of the Ecological and Food High School in Veselí nad Lužnicí.
